Requirements

This hinge is standard for use with continuous hinge pin MS20253.
For service procurement, the preferred stock length of the hinge is approximately 72 inches. Complete hinges shall be furnished with cadmium plated corrosion resisting steel pins of the same length in accordance with MS20253.
Specify unanodized if hinge is to be shotweld. Not to be used for new design.
Only complete anodized hinges to be stocked by services.
Use MS20257 hinge wherever load requirements permit.

Notes

Material: Aluminum alloy, 2024-T3511, QQ-A-200/3, or 7075-T72511 per QQ-A, 200/11.
Finish: Anodize in accordance with MIL-A-8625 Type II or chemical surface treatment MIL-C- 5541. (Ends of all hinges shall be finished)
Remove all burrs and sharp edges.
Marking: Ink stamp MS20001 - (Size dash No.) at regular intervals along length of hinge so that any three inch length will have at least one complete identification in figures not less than 0.060 inch high. Designation for anodizing and for length shall not be included in marking.
Dimensions in inches.
Second dash number indicates length "L" expressed in inches and hundredths. Add P before size dash number for anodized finish, "C" for chemical surface treatment.
Examples of Part Numbers:
MS20001-4-1200 - Unanodized 1,500 wide x 12,000 long, CAD plated cres. hinge.
MS20001 CHA 4-1200 - Type H half hinge, chemical surface treatment, alum. 7075-T73511, 1.500 inches wide, 12.00 inches long, CAD plated cres. hinge.
Use type "X", "Y", and "H" half hinges only until existing stock is depleted. For new procurement use complete hinge "MS20001" or "MS20001P" only.
Referenced documents shall be of the issue in effect on date of invitations for bids, or request for proposal except that referenced adopted industry documents shall give the date of the issue adopted.
For design feature purposes, this standard takes precedence over procurement documents referenced herein.
